My wife went to Raleigh this weekend. She said they did not mention Hitler, the blood issue, or pedophiles in the apostate talk. She said it was not as harsh as I had told her it would be. Perhaps they did tone it down some.

For years the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses has held a regional convention in the Tri-Cities, attracting about 16,000 of the faithful who spend an estimated $8.6 million while in town.
But they won't be coming in 2014.
"What they told me is the decision has been made nationally to downsize the number of conventions from 400 to 100. They're simply consolidating," said Kris Watkins, president and CEO of the Tri-Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau in Kennewick.

Check out he Wikipedia entry on Ross. Seems he specializes in "distressed" businesses.

Show me something better
by WildeLover interry started a really good thread a little while ago.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/258731/1/where-did-pastor-russell-get-his-truth.
it reminded me of what the jw who studied with me and brought me into the truth said.. she said show me something better.
she qualified this by saying show me another religion that teaches the basics.. i changed subject but i suppose basics are.

There Is No 'Heavenly Hope'!
by The Searcher inpropitiatory sacrifice.
this is how christ's death is described three times in the scriptures.. the apostle john wrote, "the love is in this respect, not that we have loved god, but that he loved us and sent forth his son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.
" (1 john 4:10).

Thanks guys!
What I want to try to get across to family is the main two scriptures:
(John 3:5) . . .Jesus answered: “Most truly I say to you, Unless anyone is born from water and spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
and
(Matthew 8:11) But I tell YOU that many from eastern parts and western parts will com and recline at the table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens.
so if the average witness hopes to see the "ancient worthies" as Rutherford put it, they HAVE to be born of water and spirit. The "slave" reserves that for only the 144,000. This is in total disagreement with the bible, although it certainly does bring to mind one scripture
Matt 23:13 “Woe to ? YOU , scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ? YOU ? shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for ? YOU ? yourselves do not go in, neither do ? YOU ? permit those on their way in to go in."
In other words by following the religous leaders of that time, people were kept from the kingdom of the heavens (kingdom of God), the same is true today. The odd thing is that six or seven million people can't see that. Of course who am I to talk. I did not see it for 40 years either.
